Strangely, one of the hardest things to do is to find enough time to post to this blog. It seems that my day is constantly filled with activities. I get up in the morning and the first thing I do is jump rope and ab crunches. As soon as I’m finished with that I make breakfast, pack my lunch for the day, take a shower and generally make myself presentable, then out the door I go for a fun-filled day at work. Then I come home in the evening, do my workout, make and eat dinner, spend some quiet time with my partner, then it’s off to bed. Lather, rinse, repeat.
There are some free moments where I can jot down ideas and maybe even a potential blog post on a piece of paper, but there just doesn’t seem to be the time to get to my computer and actually write something. It’s all the way upstairs at the back of the house and there just doesn’t seem to be any incentive to go there. (Okay, the room is also in disorganized chaos and that seems to prevent any of the creative juices from flowing.)
So I decided to try and remedy that a little. My computer is kind of old, although I have periodically upgraded parts of it. I commonly refer to it as “Frankenputer”. I’ve been looking for something a little newer and a little more portable, but right at the moment I can’t really justify the expense of the laptop of my dreams, especially since Frankenputer still works quite well.
Then in walked the netbook. I’m test-driving one now. I’ve got a little less than 14 days to see if this works for what I need at the moment. So far I’ve been very impressed with it. The wireless connection has been phenominal, it’s small enough to be very portable (so I can sit on the couch with a DVD going and surf the net), and the keys are not squashed together and tiny so typing is a breeze. All-in-all, the ease and accessibility has made this blog entry very doable!
If I stay with the netbook, I should be able to update more often from a wide variety of locals. That would be the coolest thing ever! This little netbook won’t ever replace Frankenputer, but it does help to make some things easier.
