What is an “E”, besides the fifth letter of the alphabet?

That would be me, the guy who’s writing all the stuff in this blog. Greetings!

What does “E” stand for?

My first name. I’m one of those strange people who do that whole “first initial/middle name” thing. It all came about during my rebellious college years (as rebellious as one can get in a religious college) when I was trying to create an identity for myself. I was never too thrilled with my first name, so I decided to pare it down to an initial and use it in conjunction with my middle name. Over the years people stopped using the middle name and just started calling me “E”.

What does an “E” do?

Lots of things! I’m like a jack-of-all-trades. I have interests in many areas and if you keep up with this blog you’ll probably hear me talk about a number of them: music, blogging, cooking, wellness, zen, needlework, reading, etc. The list goes on. I can also be a font of useless information, especially if it involves television shows. Don’t know why, but it’s there.

What is an “o eric the gn”?

Oericthegn. It’s pronounced “or-ik-thane”. One word. In Anglo-Saxon. It’s a persona I developed for an educational non-profit organization I belong to, known as the Society for Creative Anachronism (aka SCA). It’s a group that researches and re-creates the Middle Ages. You’ll probably hear more about that, too.

What about….

Alright, I need to stop you and your twenty questions right there. Too much exposition can kill a show! I could proceed to give you a lot of information right at this moment and tell you everything you’d ever want to know about me, but I guarantee that it would probably bore you to tears. If you stay for the journey, you’ll learn most of this stuff along the way—and who knows, you might have some fun and learn something too!

So just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!<
